Stop by the Wheat Ridge Rec Center and check out the artist display.  I'm featured along with Kathleen Martell, who got excited about metal art at Ghost Ranch, and creates a
series of personalized warrior Goddesses.
I'm showcasing bicycle gear ornaments as well as table-top sculptures and jewelry.
The exhibit runs through December.

 Artist Statement

At the heart of every skilled welder's torch is a tiny blue flame, precise, controlled, and powerful. It's the flame they strive for, and it's the inspiration behind Blue Flame Designs. My work embodies that same dedication to craft, balance, and artistry.

Outdoor art has always appealed to me, particularly sculptures made from repurposed metal. With no prior welding experience, I began my journey by taking art welding workshops at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, and the 23rd Street Studio in Denver. I started creating my own work in 2009. My inspiration comes from nature, children at play, Southwestern culture, fellow artists, and the unique materials I discover while foraging through junkyards and estate sales.

Sometimes I begin with a clear vision and search for the materials to bring it to life. Other times, the materials themselves suggest what they want to become, and I follow their lead. I love the challenge of transforming discarded or utilitarian objects into something entirely new through my tools and imagination.

.Many of my pieces incorporate repurposed bicycle parts—gears, chains, handlebars, and pedals—giving new purpose to familiar forms. Most of my pieces are made with metal, stone and wood.  I like the feeling of permanence they bring to a sculpture, yet constantly change with the seasons.  When doing custom pieces, I seek input from the clients, incorporating their personality into each unique creation.
